One of the most interesting and wonderful experiences we have had together in our married life is participating at Philmont Scout Camp in Cimmaron, New Mexico.
We stayed in a cozy tent in an area they call "Tent City" and where it could be extremely hot.
But soon it became out new little home and we usually collapsed on our cots at the end of each day. . . mostly turning in somewhere around 9:00 pm.
. . . That is, after we checked email and caught up on work from home.
I was "called"(through a letter) to serve in the YW Presidency and I enjoyed teaching 15 little Beehives. I served with two very nice sisters. In the center is Shauna Hall, from Idaho who was our president for the day.
General Young Men's President, David L. Beck and his wife, Robyn, were wonderful teachers and became our good friends over the week.
Each family was asked to make a family "sign" for FHE on Monday night's parade. I bought fabric to make a sign, but didn't get around to doing it. Each family had a cute homemade sign something like this one above. The day we left, in a panic, I called and ordered a vinyl one for us from "Signs Now." When we went to pick it up, I was very surprised to see the LARGE 6 foot sign!
When Tim introduced our family, he said something like, "Since our children are all gone, we do a lot of 'take-out.' So we ordered this sign to pick up and thought we could donate it to Walmart after Philmont to use in their grand opening. Everyone laughed SO hard and it was quite funny. . . but not really. As you can see, I was so embarrassed!

One of the real treats was spending time with David Hyde, our stake young men's president and his two children, Matthew and Allyson. Each night I escorted Allyson over to the family restroom where we could take individual showers. I enjoyed getting to know this delightful and precocious young woman.
